Year 6 have loved diving into their new topic, Mysterious Maya. They began by exploring where the Maya civilisation settled and investigated the diverse physical features of the Mesoamerican landscape, including rainforests, mountains, and lowlands. The children were amazed to learn how the Maya managed to build thriving cities in the heart of the rainforest, using their environment cleverly to survive and grow. They also discovered that Central America is home to the Sierra Madre mountain range, so learnt about the key features of a mountain range before creating informative and eye-catching posters to showcase their knowledge. It’s been a fantastic start to an exciting new topic!
