To mark the Kings Coronation children across school took part in a range of activities, the celebrations included a picnic which in true British style was partly indoors due to the weather.
To mark the end of World Science Week, children across school took part in a range of scientific investigations and research projects. From the enquiry skills, problem solving, collaboration and record keeping evident, it is clear that Valley is nurturing the next generation of conservationists, botanists, astronomers, physicists and inventors.
World Book Day 2023 was a fantastic day on which children in different year groups enjoyed modern stories by inspiring authors. As well as activities relating to our chosen authors and stories, there was plenty of opportunity to read our own book choices for pleasure.
The week gave us the opportunity to focus on stories from a different culture in each year group. In EYFS, children explored stories relating to China and the Chinese New Year. In KS1 and KS2, the countries were chosen linked to the Commonwealth Games that we are beginning to look forward to. The children have learnt more about the culture of their focus country and have
looked at similarities and differences compared with our lives here. This has been a great opportunity for us to promote diversity and celebrate differences. The week finished with the children writing a story set in their focus country or based on a tale from that culture. These were wonderful to read and showed how much the children had learnt from the week. The children also very much enjoyed our PTFA non uniform event today where they dressed in the colours of the flag of their country.
It is crucial that we all remember to stay safe when on or near to the road.
Following the Road Traffic Accident which happened just outside of school last week, although we are pleased the young man knocked off his bicycle is recovering well, we are all thinking about Road Safety and reminding ourselves of the key messages which help us to stay safe.
We had an extra assembly today to remind us which can be viewed via our Video Resource Centre, please do take a look.
Parents are urged to temporarily remove their children's access to social media platforms, particularly Tik Tok. We have been made aware of an extremely distressing, graphic and traumatic video that is currently on this site. The video is currently in the process of being investigated and removed, however due to the amount of times it has been posted, viewed and shared, it is still visible in some cases. Please do not hesitate to contact school should you need any support with this or if you would like any support with yours or your child's mental health.
